Microcline (var: Amazonite)This thumbnail specimen is a euhedral, sharp, fine blue green color prismatic crystal of Amazonite with no matrix. The left edge of the crystal has a contact, but overall, the piece is in good shape. From the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904 1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. this one is in great shape (especially for the size)
but it is contacted on the back / base of the piece
Were it not for the small Siderites on the side of the piece
black cyclic twinned crystal group with virtually no damage and decent sized crystals
and although it’s best known for its phosphate species
A minor amount of attached black Goethite can be seen on the base of the piece that makes for a great touch
To find a piece with such great aesthetics is rare these days
Rarely do you see specimens this size with such great crystallization as this one
