KASSANDRA SAVAGE | ‘Collecting and Cooking Yabbies on Country’ | MonoprintKassandra Savage is a descendent of the Waanyi and Kurtijar people of the Gulf of Carpentaria Country of Queensland. She was born in Cloncurry in 1967. Kassandra is an Early Childhood Teacher and has been teaching for 31 years. She has taught (and supported other teachers) in many schools and Aboriginal communities including Mount Isa, Cairns, Bamaga, Injinoo, Weipa, Mapoon and Mossman. She is currently living and teaching in Mossman, on Kuku Yalanji
The artwork thus becomes the boat's spectral fiction and a ghostly apparition
"The Kuku Yalanji (Kuh-kuh Yel-an-jee) Language is still spoken today by our Bama-bama (Bum-mah bum-mah)
