We are the Kuku Yalanji people. We collect food in the open forests and wood lands across to the Great Dividing Range; we harvest and hunt on the sea, in the mangroves, the rivers and the creeks and shoreline. Our dilly bag or basket is made from river grass or black palm. The Kuku Yalanji language word is Balji (pronounced buhl jee). The women; my
