Kelly paid his dues as a member of the John Dummer Blues Band, often backing visiting US Blues artists such as John Lee Hooker and Howlin' Wolf. He left Dummer to join Tramp with sister Jo Ann Kelly before joining the Blues Band in 1979. Dave Kelly is now a hugely regarded and much respected senior statesman of the Blues guitar.
