Swell de Spirits That's the Spirit #4 Heavy TDL Rum 2008 63,7%With this molasses rum from the Trinidad and Tobago archipelago, Swell de Spirits launches the "That's the Spirit" series. Distilled at TDL in October 2008, this rum was aged for 11 years in the tropics in an old ex bourbon cask. Aging continued in Europe, enabling Swell de Spirits to offer a 14 year old rum. Bottled in September 2023, no fewer than 351 copies were produced. Neither filtration nor reduction were part of the bottling process.

It is one of a trio of Guadeloupe rums from the 2022 series

was finally bottled in 2020 exclusively for the esteemed French spirit merchants

but its modern history begins in 1917 when Victor Depaz returned to the area to rebuild it following the eruption of Mount Pelée in 1902

much as the esteemed Italian distributors had done in the decade prior
