Victorian Hand Made Valentine | 1854
Description
Victorian Hand Made Valentine | 1854One of a kind, early Victorian valentine dated 1854. At just under 8 x 10, its roughly the same size as a large quarto valentine from the same decade, and laid out in a similar way, though this is entirely hand made. The central piece with white & gold paper is probably a label or wrapping for thread or fabric. The handwritten poem at the bottom is terribly serious. What a lovely thing. Some missing paper elements and age tanning, otherwise excellent.
The vestments are in very good condition save for some separation of the trim on the capelet
