Description

Quartz (doubly terminated “floater”)A most unusual, doubly terminated floater crystal of white colorless Quartz from this locality collected by Robert Stoufer with Carl Auclair in 1998. Its obviously from a very obscure locality, and conspicuously different from most Quartz crystals I have seen from this area. The piece unquestionably shows a strange habit, and it is indeed a single crystal, not a group of intergrown complex crystals. Great luster and certainly gemmy translucent in

A wonderful non-pegmatite gem crystal specimen from the famous metamorphic “clefts” in the Shigar Valley

which is one of my favorite phenomena in the mineral world

let alone with such attractive associated species

along with the Quartz crystals

combined with the bright luster

“Minerals of Colorado” – 1997 mentions Ferrimolybdite as occurring from Climax but also states that Ferrimolybdite was formerly referred to as Molybdite and implies that Molybdite is not a valid mineral(

Specimen# CO712B49

I will say that this is certainly one of the more lustrous crystal groups from this find

A cool cabinet sized specimen of a species that is rarely offered for sale on the market

These specimens are common on the market

broad and distinct

I can say with a fair amount of certainty that it is unlikely we will ever see these superb Zinkenite specimens from San Jose again
